The School of Economics is seeking two Stipendiary Fellowships on a full-time, fixed-term basis for 12 months. This post is expected to commence in August 2025. 

The Opportunity:

Field(s) of specialization: All fields with a preference for Macroeconomics and Applied areas.

We are seeking outstanding candidates of demonstrated ability and high potential.

The Stipendiary Fellowships are aimed at final stage PhD students in Economics who are seeking the opportunity to focus on research and to establish their credibility as candidates in the job market. The role will be split between research (40%) and teaching (60%). Teaching could be at either or both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

These fixed-term posts are for 12 months only with a start date of 1st August 2025.

Successful candidates will receive:

  • Personal mentoring support from a senior academic in the School of Economics;
  • Access to staff training courses, and development opportunities from the University’s Institute of Academic Development.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Have a PhD or be in the late stages of a PhD (pending assumed complete at the time of application can be considered).
  • Outstanding research/research potential.
  • A commitment to (and evidence of) high quality teaching and learning.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Desirable skills and attributes for success:

  • Experience of either tutorial or lecture level teaching in UK Universities or in other HE systems with practices that align with those with the UK’s HE system.
  • Research and teaching expertise in Macroeconomics and Applied Areas. Experience in teaching numerical methods especially Julia and Python
