Salary
Lecturer: The starting salary will be from £38,249.00 per annum (grade 7),
depending on qualifications and experience.
Senior Lecturer: The starting salary will be from £42,978 per annum (grade 8),
depending on qualifications and experience.
Hybrid role: at least 3 days per week onsite
BA Hons Criminology is a popular programme at Plymouth Marjon University and this subject area is a growth area. The programmes are innovative and forward-thinking, and we are looking for a new member of our teaching team to help us keep pushing at boundaries to enhance our growing reputation within this discipline. The successful candidate will bring industry knowledge and also experience of programme delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level in a related subject field. We are specifically looking for a member of staff to develop the teaching and learning Criminology students at all undergraduate levels, therefore experience in teaching a broad range of modules is an advantage.
The successful candidate will also contribute to programme design and assist the programme leader in course administration and management. We also foster an environment of collaborative research opportunities, although prior publication is not a prerequisite for this role, as well as encouraging ongoing personal and professional development.

We are looking for someone to join our growing team to inspire and teach undergraduate students, empowering them to become confident, independent learners. You should also be able to provide innovative teaching methods that both enhance and challenge the student experience. Additionally, you may contribute your expertise through research and knowledge exchange and seeking real-world experiences that help students gain insight into the diverse field of criminology.
What you’d be doing:
You will contribute to the development and delivery of innovative modules that reflect current knowledge and enhance student learning. Using creative teaching methods, you will challenge students to engage critically and develop strong analytical skills. You will assess student work through meaningful evaluations, providing constructive feedback to support students’ academic progress that will also strengthen student engagement and learning outcomes. Additionally, you will serve as a Personal Academic Tutor, offering academic and pastoral support, while also supervising postgraduate and research students and ensuring quality standards are maintained.
