This post represents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Girls’ Everyday Politics project, which is the culmination of a five-year collaboration between Cardiff University and children’s rights INGO Plan International. The project analyses data from Plan International’s Real Choices Real Lives study (https://plan-international.org/publications/real-choices-real-lives/), exploring how girls question gender inequalities as they progress through childhood and adolescence, and whether we see a corresponding change in caregiver attitudes. The findings will have implications for how we understand girls’ resistance to inequality in their everyday lives, and the kinds of support they need to make change. The post holder will work alongside the PI, colleagues from the research directorate at Plan International, as well as colleagues from the LEAD (girls’ leadership) team at Plan International’s Global Hub. This represents an exciting opportunity to feed into the organisation’s review of its position paper on girls’ leadership, which will help to shape its programming in over 80 countries for the next five years.

The post will be based at the Cathays campus or working remotely. Discussions around these arrangements can take place after the successful candidate has been appointed.
