IT/AV Technician

The Royal Veterinary College, University of London - Infrastructure Services Division

Location: London
Salary: £34,824 to £39,969 Per Annum Including London Weighting
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 13th June 2025
Closes: 26th June 2025
Job Ref: ISD-0148-25

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic IT/AV Technician who is eager to build on their existing experience within a fast-paced, varied, and supportive environment. In this role, you will work closely with the IT Resources Manager and colleagues across the IT department and the Business Information Unit (BIU) to support all RVC users and ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality IT services.

Your responsibilities will include supporting PCs, laptops, and Mac devices running the latest operating systems, as well as contributing to the implementation of IT solutions that support the College’s strategic and operational objectives. A key part of the role involves fostering clear communication and strong collaboration—both within the IT Helpdesk team and with stakeholders across the organisation. You will also be responsible for diagnosing and resolving faults across a broad range of hardware, including audio-visual equipment, operating systems, and software.

Based primarily at our Hawkshead campus, you will provide hands-on, face-to-face support, with occasional travel to our Camden campus as required. You will also help maintain and troubleshoot over 2,000 University-managed Windows systems, as well as assist students with their personal devices—making each day both dynamic and rewarding.

This is an excellent opportunity to advance your career within an institution committed to digital transformation. You will bring strong communication skills, a proactive approach, and prior experience—ideally gained in a higher education environment. In addition, you should possess solid analytical and problem-solving abilities, along with the capability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.

We are currently the QS number 1 ranked veterinary school in the world and a great not-for-profit organisation to work for. The College’s total reward package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, and free sports/gym facilities, with campuses in Camden and leafy Hertfordshire. A Working from Home Policy is in operation providing hybrid working opportunities as appropriate.

Normal working hours per week will be 35 per week, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm. This may vary from time to time in consultation with your line manager.

We offer a generous reward package and benefits including:

•    Competitive and attractive pension package

•    Generous 30 days annual leave (plus bank holidays and concessionary days)

•    A range of family friendly policies, including adoption, maternity and paternity pay and leave

•    On site café and restaurant

•    Free membership to gym facilities at Camden and the Fitness and Wellbeing Centre located on site at Hawkshead (gym, badminton, climbing wall, Zumba, yoga, and Pilates classes included)

•    Cycle to work scheme

Prospective applicants are encouraged to contact Gwyn Jervis, Head of IT Services at gjervis@rvc.ac.uk for further information.

We promote equality of opportunity and diversity within the workplace and welcome applications from all sections of the community.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role.
