The School of Nursing, Psychotherapy and Community Health leads in advancing population and patient health, inclusion and well-being through education, research, practice, and policy development. Applications are now invited for a Permanent post of Assistant Professor in Intellectual Disability Nursing. The successful candidate will be expected to lead on intellectual disability nursing initiatives and to contribute to teaching and learning, research and scholarship, and administrative activities in the School, and to work collaboratively with external health service partners in supporting and advancing student learning.

Applicants will be qualified to a post-graduate level and must have completed a PhD/Doctorate in Intellectual Disability Nursing or a relevant health-related field.  Applicants must be registered or be eligible to register as an Intellectual Disability Nurse in the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI). The successful candidate must have previous teaching experience at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level; a record of original research backed-up by publications in top-quartile international journals or, based on career stage, show exceptional promise in this regard; the potential to establish an independent research programme and attract research funding from competitive research funding schemes; and excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with evidence of successful teamwork and a collaborative and collegial approach. Ideally the candidate will also possess the following desirable criteria: registration, or eligibility to register on the General Nursing division with NMBI or hold additional registrations in other areas of nursing and registration, or eligibility to register on the Nurse Tutor’s division with NMBI or hold a recognised teaching and learning qualification.
