About the Role
The post provides front-line support for the IT needs of teaching, research and administration in the Faculties of Linguistics, Philology, and Phonetics and Modern Languages. Division of time between the two Faculties to be flexibly distributed according to contingencies, as determined by the IT Manager. Occasional out-of-hours working may be required.
Most of the duties relate to facilities currently in or near Wellington Square, although the duties also involve some support for faculty members working in colleges. This post is part of an IT team currently consisting of an IT Officer, a Web Developer, an Infrastructure Officer and an IT Manager.
It is envisaged that for the foreseeable future (at least the next year), the post will be primarily devoted to MML/LPP, but longer term there may be the need/opportunity to work across other faculties and/or specialise in aspects of the role.
Please note: Along with other Humanities Faculties, the two Faculties will be moving to the Schwarzman Centre in 2025. Final decisions on IT support and structures for this shared building have yet to be taken, but it is likely that there will be changes to this role because of that move.
