We are looking for an individual to help us train a new generation of highly skilled veterinary professionals who are passionate about animal welfare.
The new School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Lancashire is an international, research-active institution, the first facility of its kind to open in the county. You will be joining a talented team who are leading the way in modern learning today, committed to widening access and participation in veterinary education. The School is developing further research activities and postgraduate teaching opportunities, along with bespoke teaching and research environments. Collaboration with internal and external research networks is encouraged.
About the role:
This is an exciting new opportunity for a veterinary surgeon or anatomical or physiological scientist who is enthusiastic about training the next generation of veterinary surgeons in comparative structure and function.
This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the development of teaching methods and materials across both BVMS and other courses, with a focus on anatomy, physiology, histology and pathophysiology (some flexibility according to expertise and interests). You will be keen to develop and deliver a clinically integrated, outcomes-focussed course, using active-learning methods and to share your knowledge and experience to ensure competence in the primary-care practitioners of the future.
Based at our Preston campus as part of the academic team, you will be responsible for delivering teaching and assessment around all aspects of comparative structure and function of species of veterinary relevance, using a variety of active teaching approaches including integrating digital technologies.
About you:
You will have an enthusiasm for developing high quality, innovative educational experiences, and ideally will also have a Veterinary degree, anatomy degree, physiology degree biomedical degree (or equivalent in a relevant subject) together with a professional teaching qualifications or membership of the HE Academy. You will have detailed knowledge of systems physiology and anatomy across the domestic species alongside an understanding of ethical animal use and the integration of alternatives to animal use including digital and non-animal resources.
