Arcipel, a leading strategic advisory firm, is seeking a full-time post-doctoral associate in defence strategy and nuclear security for a one-year appointment with a view to extension.
The position is a research role for a post-doctoral candidate specialised in nuclear security, weapons of mass destruction proliferation, defence strategy, and deterrence. The successful candidate would be expected to lead and deliver significant research projects related to nuclear security and defence strategy. Prior experience working on defence issues and wargaming projects is preferred. In addition, the associate will be expected to support ad hoc projects in other subject areas and generate further funding on an ongoing basis.
About the role
The role offers a unique opportunity to work on matters of national security and defence, with substantive responsibility to develop, build, and execute large research projects that shape policy outcomes.
Key responsibilities:
The role is a hybrid position, with at least two days per week expected to be in person. The post will start in September 2025 and will be offered on a full-time, fixed-term contract, initially for one year but with a view to an indefinite role.
About the candidate
The ideal candidate would be a post-doctoral researcher with expertise in nuclear strategy, policy and doctrine. A profound interest and passion for the subject matter is vital, as well as a flexible and entrepreneurial work ethic and advanced project management skills.
