About the Role
The School of Geography is looking to appoint a temporary Lecturer in Development Geography (Teaching & Scholarship) for six months starting in September 2025.
The Lecturer will contribute to the intellectual life of the School of Geography and the wider institution. They will make contributions to student education and experience through the delivery of teaching activities on the Global Development and Nature and Society curriculum pathways, specifically:
About the School
The School of Geography operates within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and maintains strong research and teaching collaborations with the other Faculties. It is a welcoming and intellectually vibrant home to almost 500 undergraduate and postgraduate students, with 47 academic and research staff and 12 Professional Services staff. In REF2021, the School was ranked 10th in the UK for research outputs, with 93% of submitted articles and books rated as ‘internationally excellent’ or ‘world-leading’. The School of Geography has a varied academic diet spanning the physical, environmental and social sciences and a diverse student body. The role is expected to start on 01 September 2025.
About You
You will have recently completed a PhD in Development Geography, or a related field, and have some relevant teaching experience in a university context. You will also have experience of undertaking fieldwork and be able to contribute teaching to a residential undergraduate trip to Malta in November 2025.
