Overall Purpose of the Job

We are looking for an enthusiastic researcher with a PhD in statistical genetics, genetic analysis, bioinformatics or health data science or equivalent. The successful candidate will be involved in analysing data from patients with psoriatic arthritis as part of a large international study funded by the European Union: Hippocrates. The work sets out to explore new standards for early molecular diagnosis and biomarkers of treatment response in patients with psoriatic arthritis. The post is available immediately and will be tenable on a fixed term contract until 30th June 2026, in the first instance.

The Research Associate will be based at the Centre for Genetics and Genomics Versus Arthritis (CfGG), University of Manchester, Manchester UK. CfGG is considered to be the pre-eminent research group internationally undertaking research into the occurrence, causation, impact and outcome of the major rheumatic and musculoskeletal disorders and fosters a strong programme of staff development and support. We are looking for an enthusiastic research associate with a background in one of the following disciplines, or related: statistical genetics, genetic analysis, bioinformatics or health data science.

You will be involved in the analysis of existing genetic, transcriptomic and proteomic data. You will have a good understanding of applying various statistical analysis (e.g. multivariate/multivariable regression analysis, longitudinal analysis, analysis using R) of real world data and in interrogating observational large datasets as well as experience of analysing genetic/transcriptomic or proteomic data.
