The post will be based within the Division of Psychology and Language Sciences in the Faculty of Brain Sciences, part of the UCL School of Life and Medical Sciences. The Division is the top-rated centre for research in psychology in the country and houses a number of research departments: Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience; Linguistics; Experimental Psychology; Clinical, Educational, and Health Psychology; Language & Cognition; Speech, Hearing and Phonetic Sciences and the UCL Interaction Centre.

ICN: At the UCL Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience (ICN) we undertake world-leading research in human mind and brain, in both health and disease. We bring together researchers from different disciplines such as psychology, neurology and anatomy. The ICN is an integral part of UCL Neuroscience, which is one of the best neuroscience institutes, ranked second in the world and first in Europe by ISI Essential Science Indicators.

The ICN is an interdisciplinary Institute based in the Psychology and Language Sciences Division and includes members from and has close links with many other departments and institutes across UCL, including the Institute of Neurology, the Wellcome Centre for Human Neuroimaging, the UCL Institute of Mental Health and the Sainsbury Wellcome Centre for Neural Circuits and Behaviour.

About the role

This post is offered as a GRADE 7 Associate Lecturer (Teaching) or GRADE 8 Lecturer (Teaching).

The post is offered full time (1.0 FTE) on a fixed term basis for 10 months starting 1st September 2025 – 30th June 2026.

The salary for the post will be according to the non-clinical academic pay scale (including London allowance) as follows:

Associate Lecturer (Teaching) - Grade 7: £46,796- £51,860 per annum

Lecturer (Teaching) - Grade 8: £54,172 - £63,752 per annum

The post holder will primarily contribute to the Master’s programmes in Cognitive Neuroscience run by the Institute and to the undergraduate programmes in Psychology run by the Division of Psychology and Language Sciences. The Division is one of the largest such departments in the UK with over 100 members of academic staff conducting internationally-recognised research across the discipline, including cognitive and experimental psychology, social and cognitive neuroscience, and decision sciences. Responsibilities will include seminars, lab sessions, undergraduate/postgraduate level lecturing, supervision of research projects, personal tutoring, examining, and the administrative and enabling duties that surround these activities.

About you

The successful candidate should have a PhD in psychology, cognitive neuroscience or a related field. The successful candidate should have a proven research track record, experience with teaching and examining, and have excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
