About the Department:
The Careers and Employability Service plays a crucial role in helping students succeed in a competitive graduate job market. We support students and graduates with the development of employability skills, advice on career options, applying for jobs and work experience, meeting employers and finding graduate job opportunities.

About this role:
In this role you will:

  • Lead and innovate on careers and employability provision for international students including recruitment and conversion activities, development of targeted resources and services for students and building partnerships with opportunity providers.
  • You will bring careers and employability expertise to the process of developing, implementing and evaluating project-based university-wide activity plans that make a significant impact on student experience and the employment prospects of our graduates. You will help us to identify what works, keep abreast of related sector wide developments and contribute to our programme sharing good practice across the institution.
  • You will collaborate with academic departments to build packages of careers support utilising curriculum delivery, extracurricular activities and 1:1 guidance. You will enhance the career development of students at all stages of study and take a data informed approach to deliver impactful careers provision.
  • You will develop appropriate e-learning resources to support career development learning such as online tutorials and sessions, webinars, short videos etc. to help engage and meet the needs of a large and diverse student body.
  • You will promote the employment of students and graduates to employers and help identify appropriate opportunities such as work experience, graduate entry roles and projects to support the career development and progression of our students. You will contribute to a programme of employer-focussed events.

About You:

  • Innovation will be a feature of your work, you will have the ability to translate strategy into objectives, developing action plans and turning these into impactful outcomes.
  • You will be proactive and enthusiastic about embedding employability and work-integrated learning and have expert knowledge in this area. You will have a good understanding of strategies and techniques, including e-learning resource creation, to support skills development within a curriculum setting. You will have knowledge and experience of meeting the needs of learners from a diverse range of backgrounds to design and deliver tailored employability development activities.
  • You will have good research and data manipulation skills with the ability to assimilate, interpret, and determine effective recommendations that will have a substantive impact on key objectives.
  • You will have the capacity to influence change and be an effective and constructive team player working collaboratively with all colleagues and stakeholders. You will have the communication and influencing skills essential in building and managing positive working relationships.
  • You will have the ability to plan and execute projects and deliver multifaceted high-quality services. This is a role requiring excellent organisational skills.

Hybrid working is offered for this role. The nature of the role requires presence on campus at certain times of year, but at other times you will be able to complete some work remotely.
