As a Creative Copywriter, you will contribute to the success of the UK College Division of GUS, harnessing the power of technology and digital platforms to create unique and engaging campaigns that resonate with our brand's ethos. Your work will span across various channels, including organic and paid social media, PPC, SEO, newsletters and conversion activity, harmonizing these elements to build a best-in-class content portfolio.

To excel in this role, you should be an exceptional communicator with a proven ability to conceptualise and implement creative ideas. You should know when to apply technology to accelerate the writing process and when human creativity is essential to the process.

To be an ideal candidate, you will have extensive experience producing powerful written content for multinational companies. You should be a natural team player who wants to contribute to a creative environment where everyone can produce their best work.

Position

Key Activities & Responsibilities

  • Developing compelling and creative copy for various mediums, including social media, PPC, SEO, content marketing, and PR efforts, while ensuring consistency in tone, style, and voice across all platforms.
  • Collaborating closely with the marketing and PR teams to contribute engaging ad copy for paid social campaigns and brand advertising, as well as, generating persuasive ad copy for PPC campaigns.
  • Crafting well-researched and insightful articles, blog posts and other forms of written content for content marketing efforts to engage audiences, boost brand visibility, support SEO strategies and internal communication.
  • Drafting press releases, storytelling pieces and other PR materials to amplify the UK College Division’s massaging and highlight the activities and successes of its diverse brands.
  • Utilising technology and AI tools to enhance the copywriting process, while understanding when a human touch is necessary for the crafting of content.
  • Working in alignment with the overall company's goals and marketing strategies, ensuring that your written content supports these objectives and helps to deliver the desired message to the targeted audience.
  • Staying up to date on the latest trends in content and copywriting, implementing best practices in daily tasks and continuously seeking innovative ways to improve the quality and impact of written content.
  • Participating in brainstorming sessions and collaborative discussions with the marketing teams and agencies to generate new ideas for content and campaign strategies.
  • Working in coordination with the marketing teams to maintain a content calendar that aligns with the Divisions's broader marketing and business goals.
  • Ensuring all content and communication efforts take diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) into consideration.
  • Contributing to content audits on a regular basis to assess the effectiveness of our copywriting efforts, providing useful recommendations for improvements based on key metrics and analysis.
  • Maintaining a high level of quality control to ensure all produced copy aligns with brand guidelines and is free of errors.

Requirements

Qualifications/Education

Essential

  • Undergraduate level or equivalent work experience

Desirable

  • Digital marketing qualification
  • Writing qualification

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong research and analytical skills, including the ability to understand audience sentiment, analyse content performance and optimise copy based on performance data.
  • An understanding of, and demonstrated interest in, emerging technologies that may impact copywriting including generative AI, automation tools, and data analytics.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, while ensuring timely execution.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively present ideas to internal stakeholders and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically and creatively to continually improve the company's content and copywriting strategy.
  • A good understanding or writing for the web including key words and SEO best practice.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and PowerPoint. Ability to produce newsletters, ghost write and create compelling copy.
  • Fluency in English with excellent writing and editing skills, with a strong grasp of grammar and style.
  • A portfolio of work that demonstrates your writing abilities and creative skills.

Experience

Essential

  • Significant (5+ years) experience in creative copywriting for multiple channels, including social media, PPC, SEO, content marketing, PR and internal comms.
  • Demonstrated experience (2+ years) in a team-oriented environment, with the ability to collaborate and contribute to team projects.

Desirable

  • A demonstrated passion for the educational space
  • Experience with content-related tools and services including SEO tools (such as SEMRush, Ahrefs), social media management tools (such as Buffer, Hootsuite) and content management systems (such as WordPress).
  • Experience in digital marketing including SEO, SEM, social media advertising and content marketing.
