We are seeking a Biobanker to join the Translational Gastroenterology and Liver Unit (TGLU Biobank) within the Nuffield Department of Medicine, University of Oxford. This position involves consenting patients into the Oxford Gastrointestinal (GI) Cohort and collecting samples from endoscopy, surgery and clinics, within the gastroenterology department.
You will be responsible for collating clinical data, human tissue and medical imaging to support research scientists across the Medical Sciences Division. The position will support our ambitions to give patients an opportunity to take part in translational research in the future.
You will be expected to have strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients as well as a wide range of research and clinical professionals. This post is suitable for someone with prior experience working in a biobank or similar research setting, however, this is not mandatory as full training will be provided.
This post is fixed-term for up to 1 year in the first instance, with the potential for extension.
Whilst the role is a Grade 6 position, we would be willing to consider candidates with potential but less experience who are seeking a development opportunity, for which an initial appointment would be at Grade 5: £31,459- £36,616 per annum (pro rata for part time) with the responsibilities adjusted accordingly. This would be discussed with applicants at interview/appointment where appropriate.
