35 hours per week (part-time considered)
We are looking for an effedtive and creative Products and Technology Specialist to join our team. This role sits within our Insight & Policy Directorate which comprises experts in a range of disciplines to support the organisation in meeting its strategic goals.
In this role, you will be essential to our work to ensure that technological developments, products and services which can help improve the lives of people who are deaf or have hearing loss have real impact on people’s lives and in society.
Technology is the biggest enabler of inclusion for our communities – whether at work, at home, when using public services, or in daily and social life. However, it is fast-paced, with new solutions, products and services in constant development. In this role you will keep abreast of developments and making sure that we provide people who use our services with the best possible information and advice on how they can use technology to address challenges they face. We are looking for someone who is passionate about communicating scientific and technical information in a way which is accessible, and through a range of channels.
We also work closely with corporate partners and businesses to help them understand how technology can make them more inclusive as employers or providers of products and services to the wider public. In this role you will also get hands-on with product testing and development, and activities like environmental audits to identify opportunities for improvement.
The role is an ideal opportunity for someone who is interested in how technology can transform lives and who is keen to put their technical knowledge and expertise to practical use while remaining abreast of cutting-edge developments.
We are looking for someone who is creative, flexible and a strong communicator. You will be reporting to one of our two Technology Leads and will collaborate closely with colleagues across our matrixed organisation. This includes our Marketing & Communications team and our Digital team to redesign our web content, with the wider Insight and Policy team to help shape our research and influencing activity, as well as with others including our Community Services, which provide support to individuals via our Contact Centre and local services.
You will have a background in engineering or technology and be passionate about communicating technical subjects to the general public. You’ll be curious about new technologies and willing to get hands-on with developing and improving products to make them better for people who are deaf or have hearing loss. Collaborative and creative, you’ll welcome the opportunity to work across our matrix organisation and build relationships with external partners.
