Job Description:
The Department of Sociology, Egyptology and Anthropology (SEA) at the American University in Cairo (AUC) is seeking to recruit an Assistant or Associate Professor of Anthropology with expertise in either the Anthropology of Religion and/or the Anthropology of the Environment. The position will be subject to a four-year contract with opportunities for renewal where the candidate is able to meet departmental renewal and promotion criteria. Candidates with experience in and familiarity with the North American higher education system are preferred.
Requirements:
A PhD in Cultural Anthropology or Social-Anthropology and a demonstrable record of teaching that illustrates an ability to teach courses in the BA in Anthropology and the MA in Sociology and Anthropology programs at AUC, including those with a focus on the Middle East and North Africa, as well as courses in their area of sub-disciplinary expertise. A second regional expertise will be considered advantageous. Candidates must also demonstrate an active research and publication record commensurate with their rank as well as experience of service and program administration.
