About the role
The lab of Prof Elena Seiradake require a Research Assistant to provide technical and administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the laboratories. This post will be responsible for supporting specific research projects, managing the scientific process and maintaining quality control, as well as processing samples and monitoring results. Maintenance of a database is expected in order to run reports and interpret results and writing up experimental results to contribute to publications. Contributing to maintaining equipment, cleanliness and upkeep of the lab space is also expected.
This full-time fixed-term post is funded by the ERC for up to 12 months in the first instance.
The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.
About you
You will have completed or be close to completing an MSci in neuroscience, and have experience of using primary dissociated neuronal cultures, organotypic hippocampal cultures, ex vivo & in vivo electrophysiology (patch clamp) and stereotactic surgery for viral vector delivery in vivo using rodent models. You will have strong expertise in confocal microscopy and data analysis using R coding and ImageJ. We also expect experience in using ELISA for protein binding studies. Previous engagement with science communication and public engagement are desirable.
