The Role

We are seeking an organised and detail-focused Assistant Manager for Assessment Boards, Awards and Student Records. You will coordinate assessment board processes and ensure student records are accurate and aligned with academic policies and external requirements.

Reporting to the Student Records Manager, you’ll play a key role in upholding academic integrity, supporting regulatory compliance, and contributing to the delivery of a high-quality student experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate assessment board scheduling, documentation, and administration.
  • Serve as secretary for assessment boards and relevant committees or panels.
  • Ensure compliance with CCL policies and external regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate student records, including assessment outcomes and progression.
  • Communicate results to students, staff, and academic committees.
  • Manage academic appeals processes, ensuring fair and timely outcomes.
  • Support training of staff on assessment board procedures.
  • Liaise with external examiners and validating bodies.
  • Ensure integrity and confidentiality of assessment-related data.
  • Administer student lifecycle events (e.g. enrolments, transcripts, withdrawals).
  • Monitor and improve assessment board processes.
  • Produce reports for academic quality assurance and governance purposes.
  • Implement feedback from external regulators and examiners.
  • Collaborate with programme teams, Registry, and apprenticeship administration.

About You

You have a strong understanding of the UK higher education sector, including its regulatory frameworks and quality standards. You’re organised, proactive, and able to handle sensitive information with integrity. You communicate clearly and collaborate effectively across teams.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Degree-level education or equivalent.
  • Experience managing assessment boards and student records in higher education.
  • Knowledge of academic regulations and quality assurance.
  • Familiarity with student management systems and data handling.
  • Strong written communication, reporting, and committee support skills.
  • Ability to manage appeals and student casework processes.
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and student data systems.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of regulatory data returns and policy development.
  • Experience delivering training on assessment procedures.

Additional Information

This is a 6-month temporary contract with a salary of £38,000. Applicants must have the existing right to work in the UK, as we are unable to offer visa sponsorship.
