Stipendiary Lecturership in Physical Chemistry

Christ Church invites applications for a fixed-term Stipendiary Lecturership in Physical Chemistry.

This is a temporary, fixed-term position to fulfil a current teaching need arising from Professor Dirk Aarts’s sabbatical leave; therefore, the appointment carries with it no expectation of permanent employment at Christ Church. Christ Church currently admits seven students per year to read Chemistry. The person appointed will share in the teaching of Chemistry with College Tutors and other College lecturers as appropriate.

The successful candidate will deliver three hours of tutorial teaching per week, averaged over the three eight-week terms of the academic year and should be able to teach:

• Year groups 1, 2 and 3 in Physical Chemistry, which includes tutorials, vacation work, collection and revision classes.
• Courses taught include thermodynamics, quantum chemistry, statistical thermodynamics, etc.

This post is offered on a one-year fixed-term temporary basis with a salary of £8,284 - £9,154 (current rates) per annum, according to qualifications and experience.
