Arcadia Abroad (housed at Arcadia University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA) provides over 100 study abroad programs in 10 countries to students from over 300 institutions of higher learning in the United States.  With over 30 programs offered at UK universities, in addition to its London Centre, the College of Global Studies offers a diverse range of study abroad options, including first-year programming, internships, and undergraduate research opportunities. Arcadia's London Centre is based in Bloomsbury, where classes, academic programs, student life services and other forms of comprehensive support are offered to participating students.

Job Outline

The Deputy Director of The London Center works as part of the team based at Arcadia University, College of Global Studies (TCGS), London Center.  The post holder is a member of London’s Senior Management Team and has oversight of TCGS England and Wales Student Services, Collaborative Programs and Facilities functions.  The postholder will coordinate and lead Arcadia’s administrative teams working to deliver these functions.

The nature of the role means that unsocial hours may need to be worked, some evenings and weekends during term time. 

Eligibility:

Applicants should have the right to work in the United Kingdom and be able to demonstrate the following qualifications, experience, skills and attributes.

Required Skills and experience

  • Proven experience successfully managing, mentoring and directing staff
  • Experienced administrator with excellent attention to detail
  • Skilled at working in an environment that requires significant collaboration across teams, collegiality and professionalism
  • Knowledge of UK and US higher education systems
  • The ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and university students
  • Proven ability to manage projects from inception to fruition
  • Proven ability to multitask
  • Numeracy and fiscal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Confidence in speaking to large groups and leading workshops
  • Experience of dealing with senior staff within University administration
  • Willingness to work outside of normal office hours, including evenings and weekends at certain times in the year.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure

Desired Skills and experience

  • Experience of organising events
  • Experience of providing pastoral support to students
  • Knowledge of Google suite, Salesforce and Canvas
  • Knowledge of UK immigration law and procedures impacting visiting students

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • Significant experience in Higher Education or a related field

Job description

Conditions: The post will require the candidate to fulfil occasional on-call duties as part of a staff rota as well as participating in occasional out of hours activities in the evenings and weekends.
