Job Description 

The Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYSPP), National University of Singapore, invites applications for multiple tenure-track Assistant Professor appointments. One position will be in international security (political science-international relations or other relevant disciplines), which is broadly defined to include traditional and emerging security issues. For the other two positions—in public policy and public administration—the areas of interest are open; however, there is a particular interest in candidates with research and teaching expertise in public budgeting and finance, social policy and administration, leadership in public service, decentralization and local governance, and Technology/AI. 

Job Qualifications 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A PhD conferred by 1 August 2026 in the fields of international relations, political science, public policy, public administration, or related disciplines;
  • Publications in quality peer-reviewed journals in their field and/or a strong pipeline of working papers;
  • A clear research identity and trajectory to become an independent scholar;
  • Research that is relevant to contemporary issues in Asia and/or Southeast Asia;
  • Demonstrated ability to teach core and specialized courses in the public policy school environment; and
  • A willingness and ability to mentor graduate students.

  1. A cover letter
  2. Curriculum Vitae
  3. A research statement that outlines your past, current, and future research agenda
  4. A teaching statement outlining your pedagogical philosophy and practices, courses taught, and, where available, evidence of teaching effectiveness.
  5. Up to two writing samples (please clearly denote which is your primary sample, which can be a job market paper or chapter(s) from a book project)
  6. Names and contact information of three referees. Referees will be contacted automatically via AJO with instructions to upload their letters of recommendation. 

The cover letter, research statement and teaching statement should each be a maximum of two pages, double-spaced. 

Members of the hiring committee will be attending the APSA Annual Conference in Vancouver and will be available for an informational session and preliminary interviews.
