The RCSI Strategic Academic Recruitment (StAR) Programme is a five-year initiative to accelerate impactful research in health sciences. It supports emerging research leaders through mentorship, funding, and a structured development plan. The programme offers a fixed-term contract with the potential for permanency after a successful third-year review.

RCSI is currently recruiting a StAR Lecturer to join the FutureNeuro Centre, Ireland’s SFI Research Centre for Translational Brain Science. FutureNeuro brings together 33 investigator teams across neuroscience, genetics, drug discovery, and data science, with a mission to improve diagnosis and treatment of brain diseases. The Centre has secured over €45M in funding and is internationally recognised for its research excellence.

The ideal candidate will hold a PhD, MD, or equivalent in a relevant discipline and demonstrate independent research leadership, impactful publications, and potential to secure major grants. Research areas of interest include developmental neuropsychiatry, neural engineering and biomaterials, and digital health.

The role includes mentorship, funding for an MD student, and a phased introduction to teaching. A five-year plan will be developed with a senior academic to guide research, funding, and teaching goals.

Applications must be submitted via the ‘Apply’ button above by 29 August 2025. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interview and presentation in September.
