We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated Business Science Fellow/Associate/Assistant to work within the established Business Partnership Unit in the School of Chemistry. The candidate will work closely with companies and academics on a portfolio of externally funded translational research and services for business projects. They will develop and undertake collaborative laboratory-based projects involving a variety of analytical chemistry techniques (for example, LC-MS, GC-MS, ICP-MS and NMR).
In addition, the successful candidate will contribute towards the completion of patent and technical literature searches, assess commercial markets and develop business plans. The role provides an opportunity for suitably qualified individuals to develop further their business, innovation and entrepreneurial skills for which some training will be provided.
There is one post available and depending on qualifications candidates should apply for the Business Science Assistant role (candidates have a degree in Chemistry or related discipline) or the Business Science Fellow role (candidate have or are about to obtain a PhD in Chemistry or related discipline.). (Title will be ‘Business Science Associate’ where an appointment is made before PhD is completed). Some experience of working on industry related projects will be an advantage.
The post is offered on a full-time basis (36.25 hours), however fractional working options may be considered. The post will be offered as a fixed-term contract for 12 months. Job share arrangements may be considered. Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
