Professor MacLaren is seeking an Administrative Assistant to join his research group. Professor Robert MacLaren heads the Clinical Ophthalmology Research Group at the Nuffield Laboratory of Ophthalmology (NLO) and leads the Gene and Cell Therapy theme at the NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre (BRC). Over the last decade, Professor MacLaren has been at the forefront of translational medical research into novel clinical treatments for incurable retinal diseases and is regarded internationally as a leader in the fields of retinal gene therapy, electronic retinas and ocular robotic surgery.
The post holder will provide a wide range of administrative support for Professor MacLaren’s research programme at the NLO and for BRC-supported retinal gene therapy trials led by Professor MacLaren at the Oxford Eye Hospital. The post holder will also provide secretarial support for Professor MacLaren and other principal investigators at the NLO. As the role will require daily interaction with the clinical trials unit at the Oxford Eye Hospital, the role will be fully on-site with no remote work permitted, except on specific pre-approved tasks.
The successful candidate will be educated to a least A-Level or equivalent; have prior secretarial or administrative experience within higher education; and have excellent literacy, time management and interpersonal skills. It would be desirable for you to be familiar with Oracle Financials and SAP concur.
