Bring your ideas to life in a friendly, creative, and ambitious team.

We’re looking for a passionate and proactive Staff Engagement Communications Officer to join the University of Hertfordshire’s Staff Engagement Communications team, part of our Marketing and Communications department. You’ll be part of a supportive and collaborative team of three, reporting to the Staff Engagement Communications Manager.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a flair for internal communications and a desire to help build an inclusive, engaged staff culture.

You’ll play a key role in delivering our staff communications activity across a range of channels, reaching more than 3,000 colleagues. You’ll help plan and implement campaigns and events that create a strong sense of pride and belonging, while supporting wider employee engagement and strategic objectives.

You don’t need experience in higher education – if you’ve worked in internal communications or employee engagement, especially in a large, complex organisation, we’d love to hear from you.

We offer hybrid working – typically two days a week on our leafy Hertfordshire campus, and the rest from home.

Main duties and responsibilities

As Staff Engagement Communications Officer, you’ll help implement the University’s staff communications plan, ensuring consistency with our tone of voice and visual identity.

You’ll deliver creative, effective communications to internal audiences and manage staff communication channels and university-wide staff events. You will build strong relationships with stakeholders across the University and help develop a distinctive employer brand and drive staff engagement.

Skill and experience required

You will have excellent written communication and presentation skills and have the ability to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders. You will have the ability to produce, source and write high quality content from across the organisation.

You will have the ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects and remain calm under pressure. You will have a creative flair and excellent interpersonal skills.

Qualifications required

You should be educated with a degree in Communications and/or Marketing or equivalent or proven experience.

Please view the job description and person specification for a full list of the duties and essential criteria. Please attach a personal statement showing clearly how your skills and experience match the Person Specification.

We regret that we are unable to offer UKVI sponsorship for this post; applicants will either hold UK Right to Work or demonstrate access to UK Right to Work before an offer is made.
