The Digital, Data & Technology Department (DDaT) is responsible for the efficient delivery of IT infrastructure, digital products, and services; playing a vital part in enabling the University’s staff, students and researchers achieve its strategic goals. About the role
The IT Project Manager is a key part of the University’s DDaT Team, reporting to the Lead Project Manager and the Head of IT Portfolio Management. This role is being brought in to support the University Research Management System (URMS) Project, which aims to implement a new research management system to ensure the University has the right tools to manage our research and innovation portfolio.
As an IT Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing the technical delivery of the University Research Management System (URMS) project throughout implementation, which is due to start in October 2025. You will lead the technical staff involved in this project to ensure successful achievement of the project’s outcomes. You will work closely with the Project Manager for URMS based in Planning Performance and Strategic Change (PPSC).
As an IT Project Manager, you will be required to engage effectively with colleagues in Research and Impact Services (RIS), Planning Performance and Strategic Change (PPSC) and other key departments. You will be required to report on progress, as well as identify and manage technical risks and issues, which will be shared with the Project Board and other groups on a regular basis.
You will work closely with the Portfolio Management Office to embed and promote project lifecycle management and assurance and provide effective project reporting as required and requested both within DDaT and with external stakeholders.
