This is a challenging and rewarding role where the post holder will lead the provision of legal and governance support, advice and guidance to our highly professional, committed and student focused community at the University of Chichester. Working with stakeholders across our two campuses at Chichester and Bognor Regis, the Head of Governance & University Solicitor is key to delivering an excellent legal, compliance and governance service.
You will be a qualified solicitor admitted to practice in England and Wales, with significant Post Qualification experience (PQE). With up to date knowledge and expertise in contract, commercial and intellectual property law, you will be able to confidently advise colleagues through effective communication which inspires confidence in the University’s legal position.
Reporting to the Vice Chancellor and Chair of the Board of Governors and with a close relationship with the Chief Operating Officer/University Secretary, you will work with our Academic and Professional Services teams to provide clear and concise advice on legal issues to non-qualified members of staff across the University. You will work closely with and in support of the Board of Governors to coordinate, manage and advise on the University’s governance and compliance requirements and ensure practices are effective and efficient. You’ll need to demonstrate an ability to manage a varied and time-pressured workload whilst delivering a friendly and agile legal and governance service.
