Full time: 35 hours per week

Fixed term: 9 months

The University of West of Scotland is recruiting for a Lecturer in Environmental Science to join the School of Health and Life Sciences on fixed-term basis of 9 months. This post will be based in the Division of Biological Sciences and Health supporting delivery of the undergraduate programmes in the Division, as well as contributing to the wider educational portfolio through subject specialism in the field of Environmental sciences.

The postholder will commence in a mentored capacity and be supported to develop in their University teaching. Teaching will primarily focus on the delivery of established and new modules in Environmental Science. The successful applicant will be supported to engage in teaching methods and assessment strategies to support student learning, and HE teaching proficiency, reflective of best practice.

The successful candidate should have the following:

  • Relevant Ph.D. in Environmental Science (GIS, Earth Systems, Environmental Monitoring, Environmental policy).
  • Sufficient breadth or depth of specialist knowledge and experience in the field of environmental science to deliver teaching in the Environmental Science & Sustainability programme.
  • Support for learners in a university environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate up to date knowledge in environmental specialism.
  • Ability to analyse and communicate effectively.
  • Appropriate IT skills for effective teaching/research and administrative contributions.
