This is a full time, fixed term position for 30 months.

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Assistant to work across the Coles, Buckley and Dendrou research groups. These research groups focus on immune-mediated inflammatory diseases including Rheumatoid Arthritis and Inflammatory Bowel Disease. They have several clinical studies currently active in the lab investigating the cellular and molecular response of patients to standard of care treatments and biologics.
 
In this post you will process and inventory Human Tissue Samples for Clinical Studies within the research group and manage your own research and administrative activities within the guidelines provided by the Laboratory Manager. You will select, follow and adapt experimental protocols and use specialist scientific equipment within the laboratory environment for protocols such as Flow Cytometry, qPCR and immunohistochemistry. You will be responsible for maintaining a database, running reports and interpreting results as well as writing and reviewing basic operating procedure.
 
You must hold a first degree in a relevant scientific discipline with laboratory experience and experience of handling and processing human tissue in a sterile environment. You will have good knowledge and application of aseptic techniques and must demonstrate the ability to take initiative and work independently in managing own laboratory and administrative activities. You will have experience of following and adapting protocols and selecting the appropriate experimental methodologies together with experience and knowledge of standard laboratory assays including qPCR and ELSIA.
Experience of contributing to reports and articles for publication and working in a research team and contributing new ideas for new research projects are desirable.
