The Opportunity
As a Lecturer in Learning Design, you will play a key role in advancing the University’s teaching and scholarly activities. Your primary focus will be delivering high-quality instruction that fosters student engagement and supports educational transformation across a range of sectors.
In this role, you will design and deliver engaging courses in learning design, develop high-quality materials and assessments, provide meaningful feedback, and evaluate student progress. You will also coordinate academic units as Chief Examiner, supervise honours and postgraduate research projects, and contribute to research initiatives within the discipline.
As the successful candidate, you will bring experience in learning design across a range of contexts and demonstrate a strong understanding of professional design principles and practices. You will be confident using educational technologies including learning management systems, content creation tools, learning analytics, and emerging tools such as artificial intelligence. With excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach, you will also show a clear commitment to equity and inclusion in both your learning designs and your interactions with students and colleagues. You will have a strong record of high-quality teaching, preferably in a tertiary setting, along with an interest in scholarly or research activity in learning design and an emerging network of academic or industry relationships to support future innovation.
The successful candidate does not need to be an expert in all aspects, but there will be an expectation that they can draw on their experience as a learning designer and develop themselves to be able to teach across these areas as needed. Topics may range from design methodologies, learning and motivation theory, ethics and law, design and content creation software, assessment designs, evaluation methods, multimedia learning theory, universal design principles, and project management. For candidates that demonstrate a quality track record of research, in addition to teaching, there may be opportunities to engage in independent and collaborative research in the field of learning design. You will be supported to develop your strengths and have opportunities to collaborate in the generation of new ideas.
