Join our Estates Services Team at the University of Oxford as a Project Surveyor (Fabric and Compliance). You will lead the delivery of fabric repair, fire safety, and compliance projects - safeguarding historic and cutting-edge buildings for generations to come.

Salary: £48,235 – £57,255 per annum (with a possible discretionary range to £62,407 depending on skills and experience)

Estates Services manages and develops the University’s diverse property portfolio, overseeing statutory compliance, maintenance, and construction across the estate. The Estates Engineering & Maintenance team delivers critical compliance programmes and projects that keep our buildings safe and fit-for-purpose, working collaboratively with the Operations and Capital Projects teams. 

About the Role

This role oversees the University’s building fabric and compliance project delivery programmes, focusing on fabric repairs, fire safety, and statutory compliance obligations. You will manage project programmes end-to-end - from procurement and financial oversight to on-site delivery - ensuring work meets the highest safety and compliance standards. 

As the technical adviser and main point of contact for fabric and compliance issues on both large heritage and new build projects, you will guide the Capital Projects team and liaise with external contractors and professional design teams to deliver safe, high-quality outcomes; embedding the University’s interests at every stage and protecting the long-term integrity of our iconic estate.

About You

You will have:

  • A degree or equivalent in construction, building surveying, health & safety, or a related field.
  • Chartered status (e.g., CIOB, RICS), working towards chartered status, or significant experience.
  • Experience delivering fabric and compliance projects, particularly in fire safety, asbestos, fabric repair or statutory compliance.
  • Strong project and financial management skills, including procurement and budget control.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder skills, able to work effectively across teams, with contractors and external industry professionals.
  • A collaborative, pragmatic approach with a focus on safety, compliance, and service excellence.
