The School of Engineering is seeking to appoint a highly skilled and motivated Fluid Power Technician to join our team, providing essential technical support in the areas of pneumatics and hydraulics.

About You
This role requires a well-rounded multi skilled technician with experience in a mechanical services discipline such as plumbing, heating and ventilation, refrigeration, or air conditioning.
You will need practical expertise in skills such as pipe fitting, soldering, fabrication, CNC, rapid prototyping, laser cutting, and welding techniques. Additional training can be provided where necessary.
A strong understanding of workshop processes and the ability to design, build, and repair specialist equipment to detailed specifications are essential.
You will have completed an Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent training, supported by qualifications such as HNC/HND in an engineering discipline, GCSEs in Maths, English, and Science (grades A-C). Appropriate certifications such as Gas Safe Registration would be desirable.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specialist engineering software, and CAD packages is essential, alongside the ability to interpret complex instructions, draft Standard Operating Procedures, and perform risk assessments.
Current knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, including COSHH regulations and British Standards, is essential.

A strong team player, you also have the confidence to work independently and supervise small teams or projects when required, demonstrating excellent organisational and time-management skills in the process.
