Are you passionate about delivering exceptional IT services that support world-class education and research? Join our Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) Group as Director of IT Services and help lead the transformation of digital service delivery at the University of Bath.

About the Role

As Director of IT Services, you'll work closely with academic and professional teams to optimise IT service delivery, enhance user experience, and drive continuous improvement. You'll be part of the DDaT senior leadership team, supporting everything from student learning to cutting-edge research.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading proactive, customer-focused IT support services across the university.
  • Driving service optimisation for fast, effective incident resolution.
  • Overseeing IT hardware/software procurement and lifecycle management.
  • Providing strategic direction for 1st and 2nd line support, including specialist support for teaching, learning, and research.
  • Managing assistive technology support and ensuring inclusive service delivery.
  • Leading departmental budget, HR planning, and compliance with university policies.
  • Promoting staff well-being and effective internal communication.

About You

We're looking for a strategic IT leader with:

  • Proven experience in senior IT roles within complex, enterprise-scale environments-ideally in higher education or the non-profit sector.
  • Strong background in IT Service Management and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent leadership and team-building skills.
  • A track record of enhancing customer experience through service transformation.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

You'll hold a degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience, with hands-on expertise in service desk operations, procurement, and HR leadership. Experience in IT procurement, software licensing, and contract management is highly desirable.
