We are looking for a talented, motivated individual to join the Leicester Lifestyle and Health Research group (LLHRG). The LLHRG are part of the Diabetes Research Centre (DRC), Leicester Diabetes Centre (LDC), and NIHR Leicester Biomedical Research Centre with a diverse research portfolio that investigates how 24-hour lifestyle behaviours, including physical activity, sedentary behaviour, sleep and nutrition can be optimised to prevent and manage obesity and long-term conditions, such type 2 diabetes, in multi-ethnic populations.
The appointed individual will be based at the Leicester Diabetes Centre (Leicester General Hospital), which is internationally recognised for its research in the prevention and management of obesity, diabetes and other long-term conditions, and hosts the BRC Lifestyle Theme. The LLHRG have also recently received a prestigious £14M investment from Research England to expand their group and work between now and 2029. This is a key role in supporting that.
The BRC Lifestyle Theme hosts and manages an array of bespoke clinical research facilities at the Leicester Diabetes Centre, including a state of the art exercise laboratory, and an expert team of exercise physiologists, research technicians and other supporting staff, to allow extensive exercise testing and training and other cardiometabolic health assessments.
The post holder will sit within a diverse multidisciplinary research team, working closely with clinical and non-clinical academics, technical support staff, research managers and administrators to deliver our portfolio of clinical research trials. This will focus most prominently within the BRC Lifestyle Theme and E3 Award to support research into the impact of physical activity and exercise in the prevention and management of various cardiometabolic conditions.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, hardworking and enthusiastic individual, with expertise and experience in exercise/fitness testing and training. They will play an important role in leading the delivery of a high-quality research service, providing the highest standards of patient care in line with research protocols and ICH-GCP guidelines. They will have excellent communication skills, the ability to give, receive and carry out instructions, and the ability to manage their own time and prioritise their own workload, as well as helping coordinating the workload of others. The post requires flexibility and the ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
