Background
The HealthTech AI Hub is an interdisciplinary, industry-facing initiative at the College of Medicine and Health, University of Birmingham, supported by the West Midlands HealthTech Innovation Accelerator (WMHTIA). It is designed to accelerate the adoption of AI across the healthcare sector through strategic partnerships with startups, SMEs, and healthcare providers. Our mission is to support the development of inclusive AI solutions that ensure the benefits of AI are accessible to all, regardless of background or context. This role will be central to advancing that mission—working closely with academic experts and industry partners to co-create AI technologies that are not only innovative and scalable but also equitable and socially responsible.
Role Summary
We are seeking an AI/ML Engineer to join the HealthTech AI Hub team as a Research Associate. The role involves designing and implementing robust machine learning pipelines, evaluating AI model performance, and advising healthcare companies on AI adoption strategies. You will collaborate closely with industry innovators and academic experts to conduct in-depth research on healthcare products, guide AI development, and validate scalable solutions that enhance both product performance and patient outcomes. You will also have the opportunity to work with large-scale, multimodal healthcare datasets, and contribute to the development of an AI-native intelligent knowledge mining platform.
