The College of Nursing, Midwifery and Healthcare at the University of West London is a leading provider of healthcare education in Berkshire and West London. Students benefit from state-of-the-art simulation centres at both the West London and Reading campuses, providing realistic clinical environments including our award-winning mental health simulated placement.  The College maintains strong partnerships with NHS Trusts and healthcare providers, ensuring that programmes are practice-focused and aligned with industry needs.  

 The Role  

 We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Lecturer in Adult Nursing and Nursing Associates to join our academic team. The post holder will: 

  • Contribute to the delivery and development of pre-registration nursing and nursing associate courses, including apprenticeships. 
  • Deliver engaging, evidence-based teaching and assessment strategies across undergraduate and postgraduate pre-registration programmes at both our West London and Reading campuses, with opportunities to contribute to CPD and interprofessional learning. 
  • Support students and apprentices throughout their academic journey, acting as a personal tutor and academic assessor. 
  • Collaborate with clinical partners, service users, and other stakeholders to ensure high-quality, practice-relevant education. 
  • Participate in applied research, scholarly activity, and professional development to enhance the academic profile of the College.

The Person 

 The ideal candidate will be a registered adult nurse with: 

  • A first degree in nursing or a related healthcare field (a higher degree is preferred). 
  • Recent clinical experience in acute or community settings. 
  • A strong understanding of current nursing practice, inter-professional learning, and evidence-based care. 
  • Experience in supporting and assessing students in academic or clinical environments. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills. 
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and a willingness to work towards a teaching qualification and HEA Fellowship if not already held. 

Desirable attributes include

  • Experience in higher education or simulation-based teaching. 
  • A Master’s degree or Doctorate in a relevant field. 
  • Familiarity with virtual learning environments such as Blackboard. 
  • Transferable nursing skills across hospital and community settings. 
  • A good working knowledge of nursing including research, evidence-based practice, health promotion, and an understanding of leadership.
