Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Pūkenga Matua - Senior Lecturer in Mechatronics to join Te Kura Mātai Pūkaha, Pūrorohiko - School of Engineering and Computer Science on a permanent, full-time contract. In this role, you will be responsible for teaching, research and for shaping our new Mechatronics Engineering programme at the Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington.

Key responsibilities include the following:

  • Research: Lead groundbreaking research projects in the field of Mechatronics, focusing on areas such as robotics, automation, systems engineering, space engineering, medical technologies, and sensor technology
  • Teaching: Deliver engaging undergraduate and graduate courses, inspiring students to become future leaders in the field
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to students, fostering their academic and professional growth
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with industry partners, government agencies, and other academic institutions to advance the field of Mechatronics
  • Service: Contribute to the department, college, and university through service activities and leadership roles

  • Are a leading professional in Mechatronics with a passion for teaching and engaging in research
  • Are student-focused and have a dedication for inspiring the next generation of engineers
  • Bring a positive attitude to staff and students alike and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Key requirements include the following:

  • Ph.D. in Mechatronics or a closely related field
  • A strong record of research, publications, and grant acquisition
  • Excellent teaching skills and a passion for inspiring students
  • Experience in industry or academia, demonstrating a deep understanding of the field
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
