About the project
This project involves research into the theological outlook, spiritual commitments and institutional work of African American religious and political leaders during the era of racial segregation at the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries in the United States.
Key responsibilities
Reading and drawing out key themes on extensive amounts of sermon material and/or mapping residences and collecting information about congregation members, and writing up/presenting the data in accessible note form for use in academic writing.

Timescale: up to eight weeks over the summer
Salary: £12.60 per hour

Person specification
• BA in History
• Studied modules in US History in the period 1880-1930
• Studied religious thought and African American history in this period
• Experience of conducting historical research
