We are a world class research-intensive university. We deliver teaching and learning of the highest quality. We play a leading role in economic, social and cultural development of the North East of England. Attracting and retaining high-calibre people is fundamental to our continued success.
The Role
As part of our commitment to career development for research colleagues, the University has developed 3 levels of research role profiles. These profiles set out firstly the generic competences and responsibilities expected of role holders at each level and secondly the general qualifications and experiences needed for entry at a particular level.
You will work on the NIHR Health and Social Care Delivery Research (HSDR) Programme funded project "PLACES: Promoting Local Access to Children's Early language and communication Support" which is led by Professors Lindsay Pennington and Cristina McKean.
The project is looking at how we can tailor evidence-based early language interventions to fit local needs and strengths to widen access to services and reduce inequalities in children's language development. We will work with NHS, local authority and third sector services in three areas: North Tyneside / Redcar and Cleveland / Wolverhampton. In each area service leads, practitioners and parent representatives will come together to identify which children are most at risk of speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), select an evidence-based intervention and adapt it for local delivery with the target group of children. You will be based in one of the three areas and work as part of the local team as a research practitioner. You will be supported by the research team and the local service leads.
