The opportunity
Bring your creative experience into the classroom and help shape the future of design, media and screen education at University of the Arts London (UAL).
The School of Pre-Degree Studies is seeking an inspiring Lecturer for L4 Design, Media and Screen to join our team at Lime Grove.
This is a rare opportunity to support international students as they prepare for undergraduate study across creative disciplines. You will play a central role in the design and delivery of a student-centred curriculum, teaching both studio-based practice and critical theory. With a strong emphasis on photography and film, this course also spans broader areas including graphic design, games art/design, animation, and illustration. Working closely with an experienced academic team, you’ll create an inclusive and supportive learning environment that helps students grow as artists, designers and thinkers.
You will be responsible for delivering engaging, inclusive teaching while providing academic and pastoral support to a year group of international students. Many will be new to studying in the UK, and your guidance will be central to their personal and creative development as they transition into higher education.
We are happy to consider the role being split by specialism 50/50 (critical theory studies or studio practice) for the right exceptional candidate. If preferred, please state this within your application.
About you
You will hold a relevant undergraduate degree or have equivalent professional experience and will bring teaching and assessment experience from higher education or a similar context.
You will demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of screen-based practices and how they intersect across specialisms including Graphic Design, Games Art/Design, Animation, Illustration, but ideally within Photography and Film. Practical knowledge of industry-standard applications, particularly Adobe Creative Suite, will be essential to your teaching.
We particularly welcome candidates with experience in delivering theoretical studies, and those who are passionate about supporting international learners in a creative and inclusive environment.
