We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated, efficient, and hardworking individual to join as a junior technician (level 2b) to support research within the Section of Cardiovascular Sciences in the School of Biosciences. The section sits in the Discipline of Clinical Sciences within the School of Biosciences. The School of Biosciences undertakes cutting-edge research in areas including immunology, oncology, virology, chronobiology and nutrition, using state-of-the-art techniques and facilities to investigate problems relating to human health and wellbeing.
The post holder must be able to work independently and as part of a team, including being able to work with postgraduate students, as well as technical and academic members of staff. Therefore strong organisational, communication skills, and a pro-active nature, are essential to the role. Key duties will include:
The post holder will also carry out laboratory inductions and the training of students and staff on an variety of equipment within the Section and School. Experience with any of the following; tissue culture, protein purification, tissue slicing and molecular biology would be advantageous, but not essential.
