The Solicitor will assist the Director of Governance and Legal Services to provide legal support across the University on regulatory and contractual matters in order to mitigate risks and assist the University in its ambition to deliver social benefit and impact through education, research and social innovation. In the capacity as Governance Officer, the role will also involve supporting the work of the University’s governing body, the Court, and the Executive Board by ensuring the delivery of an effective and efficient governance service.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a friendly team which promotes a corporate culture of good governance where legal, regulatory, political and commercial considerations often combine. You will be part of a cohesive and high performing team of professional and support staff, provide legal and contractual advice and support as well as managing the day to day arrangements for the University’s legal service providers and act as executive secretary of senior Court committees.
Candidates interested in this role will be a qualified practising lawyer with experience in a commercial environment with good knowledge of corporate governance and administration. You will have excellent communication, analytical and influencing skills aligned to GCU’s values and demonstrate the strategic insight that will underpin a full contribution to developing governance practice across GCU.
