As Health and Fitness Coordinator you are responsible for coordinating an annual Health and Fitness Programme for the Buckingham Campus, seeking to engage all staff, students and affiliated groups to be more active in their working day and spare time. Engaging users outside of the Fitness Centre and Exercise studio will be crucial to your success.
At the core of your role is the management of the Tanlaw Mill Fitness Centre and Exercise studio. You will be required to maintain the smooth operation of these facilities, planning and prioritising to maximise the use of the spaces. There are financial targets related to membership income but these are set collaboratively between the Health & Fitness Coordinator and their manager.

Communication

  • Establish, implement, and enforce fitness centre rules.
  • Promote and market the Health & Fitness Programme using traditional and digital marketing methods.

Service Delivery & Liaison and Networking

  • Coordinate and develop a diverse Health & Fitness Programme for students and staff.
  • Lead fitness sessions and activities.
  • Provide personal training and health coaching services.
  • Manage the induction process, encompassing the online application, medical clearance, video induction and the Induction Familiarisation Assessment.
  • Issue fitness centre membership cards and activate U-Cards

Planning and Organising Resources & Decision Making Processes and Outcomes

  • Develop an annual health & fitness calendar of events and activities.
  • Organise fitness based challenges e.g., The Eliminator Challenge
  • Maintain a record of fitness centre membership.
  • Organise biannual servicing of equipment.
  • Co-ordinate the class schedule and use of the studio
  • Manage the provision of virtual classes.
  • Manage the external hire of the studio.
  • Maintain a stock inventory of fitness equipment and supplies.
  • Monitor stock levels of fitness equipment and supplies and reorder as needed.

Analysis and Research

  • Source and purchase new equipment and replacement parts as required.

Sensory and Physical Demands

  • Carry out routine maintenance of equipment.

Work Environment & Initiative and Problem Solving

  • Risk assess fitness activities and facilities as required.
  • Set the opening hours, conditions of membership and membership fees for the Fitness Centre.
  • Monitor use of the Fitness Centre using CCTV as needed.

Pastoral Care and Welfare

  • Organise and co-ordinate health promotion activities.

Team Development & Teamwork and Motivation

  • Appoint and train Fitness Centre Supervisors.
  • Hire instructors to teach fitness classes, ensuring they are qualified and insured.

Teaching and Learning Support & Knowledge and Experience

  • Conduct exercise technique instructional workshops

Instruct members in the use of equipment as requested.
