Full time:  35 hours per week

The University of the West of Scotland have an exciting opportunity to join the central analytical team to help put evidence at the heart of decision making and ultimately support breaking down barriers to higher education. The Data and Analytics team sits within the Strategic Planning team, a multidisciplinary unit responsible for coordinating, advising and enabling activity across the institute to deliver towards Strategy 2030.

The successful applicant will be working across the university on analytical projects and dashboard reporting. Key projects will change over time but initial priorities will include expanding our ability to track student retention in a way that unites key users across the university, enhancing the reporting and use of equality and diversity data based on user needs and supporting the team to continuously improve on data governance and assurance processes. This will involve creating robust, user-friendly dashboards that empower our community to engage with data meaningfully.

Alongside a positive, problem-solving attitude, the successful candidate should have the following:

• A degree or equivalent qualification or experience in a relevant field (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Computing, Economics, or similar)
• Experience working with large datasets
• Knowledge of statistical programming (e.g., R, Python)
• Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Qlik, Power BI, Tableau)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – both written and verbal
• Understanding of data governance fundamentals and GDPR requirements
• Ability to work under pressure
