The Role
Join Kingston University’s School of Life Sciences, Pharmacy and Chemistry where you will deliver innovative teaching of Analytical Chemistry applied to Forensic Analysis, Forensic Toxicology and Bioanalysis. You will plan, deliver, and assess a range of modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels across the Forensic, Pharmaceutical Science and Chemistry accredited Programmes. These courses span across two departments (The Department of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, and The Department of Applied and Human Sciences). Delivery will include classroom learning and practical work in our modern, well-equipped laboratories using the latest analytical instrumentation (including top of the range GC-MS/MS, LC-MS/MS Q-TOF and ISO 17025 accredited Kingston Analytical Services Toxicology centre).
Our students and staff will be sought after for their skills, knowledge, and ability to innovate. Through our Town House Strategy, Kingston University will meet these challenges by delivering a progressive new model of education and will champion research impact and influence through our newly formed Knowledge Exchange and Research Institutes. It is expected that you will engage in developing your research and/or enterprise activity, supported by numerous faculty and university-wide led competitive funding schemes.
The Person
You will bring expertise in analytical chemistry to deliver application focussed teaching of Forensic Toxicology and Bioanalysis. You will be imparting practical scientific knowledge and real-world skills to students making them sought after in their future careers.
Ideal applicants will have academic, and preferably industrial experience in method development, validation and working to ISO 17025 standards. You will have some experience in the analysis of samples for forensic toxicology, environmental monitoring, pharmaceuticals, and familiarity with quality systems and statistical analysis. In addition to your undergraduate degree, you will hold a doctorate in a relevant Analytical Chemistry related discipline.
You will have the opportunity to achieve the relevant UKPSF recognition of teaching, through the accredited Introduction to Learning and Teaching or through our Kingston Academic Practice Standards Framework.
The Faculty
The School of Life Sciences, Pharmacy and Chemistry prioritises employability, practical skills, and life skills. With over 100 academics within the school, you will be part of a group that instils the importance of critical thinking, leadership skills and the personal touch for our ambitious students.
Our investment in cutting-edge facilities includes labs for biochemistry, biotechnology, cell and molecular biology, immunology, microbiology, nutrition, pharmacology, sport science (including biomechanics and an environmental testing chamber), chemical synthesis and analysis, pharmaceutics, specialist labs for pharmacy practice, pharmaceutical science and chemistry, a forensic scene-of-crime house and a pharmacy dispensing simulation suite.
We are proud holders of a School Athena SWAN silver award, and actively promote equality, diversity, and inclusion initiatives across the university.
