Liverpool John Moores University is seeking an exceptional Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Roesner Research Group, working on an EPSRC funded project exploring the design, synthesis, reactivity, and biological activity of novel boron-nitrogen heterocycles.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an ambitious research programme developing new organoboron chemistry. The post is fixed term for 36 months, with a probationary period of one year.

You will work in a collaborative and supportive environment, with direct mentorship from the PI, opportunities for career development and the chance to publish, present internationally and supervise junior researchers.

You will play a key role in delivering a 36-month EPSRC project involving: Advanced synthetic organic chemistry with a focus on boron-nitrogen heterocycles. Full compound characterisation using NMR, mass spectrometry, and other analytical techniques it will also involve investigation of reactivity and biological activity. Designing and executing experiments, analysing data, and maintaining detailed records. You will also be writing high-impact publications and presenting at conferences whilst also contributing to new grant proposals and research directions.

You will have a PhD (or near completion) in Organic Chemistry or a closely related discipline, Strong experience in practical synthetic organic chemistry. Expertise in advanced analytical techniques, especially NMR and mass spectrometry. A track record of high-quality research and publications. You will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and within a team.
