About the role
The Department of Social Policy and Intervention is seeking a Receptionist to join our professional services staff team. As the first point of contact for visitors to the department, you will be responsible for running the reception desk as well as providing administrative support for departmental staff.
Duties include dealing with general queries, both face to face, over the phone and via email. You will maintain the reception area and monitor supplies for stationery and refreshments. You will be responsible for making bookings for meetings and seminars, including catering and parking. You will email general announcements to all staff and alert relevant staff of any security or building issues as required.
The post is fixed term until July 2027 when the department will be moving to a new building. We are willing to accept applications from people wanting to work 0.6 – 0.8FTE (21.9 – 29.2 hours per week).
About you
You will have a good understanding of standard administrative procedures, evidenced by formal administrative qualifications (for example NVQ Level 2 Business Administration or RSA Diploma) and/or work experience at a similar level. You will have experience using standard computer programs such as Outlook, Word and Excel and be able to understand and pass on clear and accurate information. You will have an understanding of issues around confidentiality and excellent attention to detail. The ideal candidate would be self-motivated with an understanding of when issues need to be referred to others. Experience in a similar position and knowledge of the university would also be desirable.
