We are seeking to appoint an Administrative Assistant to join the team for the Paediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease (PIBD) BioResource study, part of NIHR BioResource (http://bioresource.nihr.ac.uk). As a BioResource Administrative Assistant, you will have general responsibility for the effective day-to-day running of the PIBD BioResource study by working closely with the Research Coordinator.
With a customer service orientated approach and competence in working with confidential information, you will be predominantly supporting the recruitment of participants to the PIBD BioResource and act as a main point of contact, liaising with site research staff, parents/guardians of participants, NIHR BioResource staff, laboratory staff etc., using initiative and judgment to solve problems and provide feedback to the Research Coordinator as appropriate. You will be tracking PIBD recruits through the BioResource online database systems, raising any data queries and following them through to resolution. In doing so, you will maintain confidentiality of issues relating to participants in the BioResource.
You will perform various administrative tasks such as proofreading, attending study meeting and record minutes/action points and other as appropriate. You will be maintaining adequate stock levels of study materials, receiving orders and sending out study packs/ supplies to sites and participants, raise purchase orders for goods/services on departmental University systems.
It is essential that you are educated to GCSE level (or equivalent) and have experience in an administrative role working in an office environment. You will have good written and oral communication skills, alongside good time management and ability to work independently with minimal supervision. You will hold good knowledge of standard Office software packages (e.g. Outlook Excel, Word) and familiarity with using mobile apps and online databases.
