House Administrator

Goodenough College

Working hours: 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday

Goodenough College, based in Central London, Mecklenburgh Square, offers a vibrant and secure accommodation to approximately 700 international post-graduate students (we call them Members) and their families in beautiful historic buildings. The College’s aim is to create a stimulating and inclusive residential environment through a well-planned programme of lectures, dinners, concerts and social activities.

The College is now seeking a House Administrator to join its Registry team and play a key role in supporting our Members’ welfare and ensuring smooth operation processes.

Some key responsibilities

  • Be the first point of contact for Members’ welfare, offering supportive guidance and signposting to appropriate services.
  • Maintain accurate Member records using College systems and generate reports and correspondence.
  • Support Members with disabilities or health conditions by assessing needs and sourcing appropriate support.
  • Liaise with Estates and other departments to ensure rooms are ready and occupancy is maximised.
  • Handle Member requests including room moves, references, proof of residence, and sublets.
  • Organise Faculty dinners and Member-led College tours.
  • Provide cover for the other House Administrator during absences and busy periods.
  • Collaborate with Registry colleagues to promote the College and support shared goals.
  • Attend internal and external events as required.

Person specification

  • Strong administrative experience with a customer-focused, education or welfare setting.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and handing confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficient in MS Office and proven experience with database systems, with a high attention to detail.
  • Possess excellent communication skills and an empathetic approach to supporting others.

This role requires a reliable, trustworthy and proactive problem-solver who works well in a team. Additionally, as this role is customer-facing, you are required to work from the office four days a week.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a recruitment exercise on 5 September 2025. There will be a tour around the College, followed by a test and an interview after.
