We are looking for a Research Assistant to join the biochemistry team within the Schofield lab and the Ineos Oxford Institute for antimicrobial research (IOI). This Research Assistant role, as part of the team, will be responsible for the provision of research support for the biochemical assays which underpin the IOI drug development programmes.
The postholder, working under the supervision of the Lead for Biochemistry and with a dotted line to the Lab Manager for Biological Research, will play a critical role in the initial phases of the drug development pipeline and you will have the opportunity to work closely with, and learn from, medicinal chemists, microbiologists, structural biologist, and biochemists. You will be responsible for running established biochemical and biophysical assays, and provide advice and guidance to students, junior staff and visitors where appropriate.
Applicants must hold a BSc/MSc in Biochemistry or a related field at minimum and have extensive experience in enzymology, experience in following and adapting SOPs, selecting appropriate experimental methodologies. Applicants also will have the ability to manage own research and administrative activities, including managing own workload and take the initiative as appropriate.
